LUPA: Natural Farming Workshop

We are honored to hold space for LUPA: Natural Farming Workshop last December 6-7, 2023. Five senior high school students from Gamot Cogon Waldorf School took the initiative and organized a workshop on natural and regenerative farming for 25 rice and corn farmers of Barangay Arante and other barangays of Sara, Iloilo.

This skills training, led by Mr. Sam Divinagracia & Mr. Edwin Araña, was crucial for our farmers as they learned the benefits and importance of growing crops organically and cultivating living and healthy soils.

They gained knowledge on how to prepare organic fertilizers and concoctions using indigenous materials. One of the greatest challenges we face today is the pollution and degradation of soils due to use of harmful chemicals and synthetic fertilizers. Our farmers were introduced to various methods and techniques that take into consideration the health of the soil and all the life in it. All throughout the work shop, the participating farmers admit that these approaches and methods are new to them being so used to using commercial fertilizers for their crops. This workshop has complemented the ongoing project of the farmers as they collaborate to create a community garden.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Anya, Sire, Ice, Sam & Chris! 🙏🏽
